Océ N.V., with worldwide headquarters in The Netherlands, was purchased by Canon in 2009 to increase the sales and distribution of global printing equipment and printing software applications. As the Oce HR lead on the Canon/Oce transition team, my role was to build bridges of understanding between the cultures of Oce and Canon. Challenging because of the natural resistance to change; people hanging desperately to the past. And challenging because of the conflicting definitions of successful integration. Generating commitment to the new order is a noble goal but much more elusive.I wanted the responsibility for planning and implementing workforce restructurings. Despite the depressing circumstances, I knew it was only MY team who could take the care necessary to execute this responsibility with the utmost professionalism and compassion and still exemplify the culture of the organization. This was the 6th post acquisition integration as head of Human Resources and, as it turned out, the final of my career. On New Year's Eve of 2012 @ 5:00 p.m. I turned out the lights and left Corporate America in my rear view mirror.

Reporting to the CEO of Océ North America, Randy worked with the senior management team in constructing strategy to achieve operating profit and business objectives. He provided coaching to the CEO, Business Unit Presidents and senior level function heads and leadership to the HR function. Randy led a team of senior managers representing Océ North America as well as management from the acquisition of Imagistics Inc. with the objective of establishing a pay for performance culture at Océ North America.In recognition of the success of the culture change in Océ North America, Randy was appointed project leader by the CEO of Océ N.V. of an international team of high performers with the goal of developing and implementing a pay for performance culture across Océ N.V. worldwide. Randy designed and implemented the succession planning process for the merged companies of Océ North America and Imagistics, Inc., and coached Business Unit Presidents in identifying and developing high potential talent.

In this role, Randy had responsibility for the Talent Management and the Learning and Development functions that supported the 3 business units of Océ North America. Under his leadership Océ developed a national recruiting campaign and corporate brand.Behavioral competencies were defined and embedded in management training modules, providing practical solutions to succession planning and performance management.

Randy directed HR management of the Wide Format Business Unit, after Océ N.V.’s acquisition of the Bruning division of AM International, then Randy's current employer, he assumed leadership of Human Resources of the Wide Format Business Unit. He was charged with transitioning and integrating the Bruning culture into the new business that Océ was developing in the US. Randy participated with senior corporate Océ leadership in evaluating and placing Bruning management into the merged company structure, concurrently managing the workforce reduction of two plants shut down due to the integration.
