  The DAV Service Officers are on the front lines providing an important link between the veteran and the VA. National Service Officers are accredited representatives of the Department of Veteran Affairs. The purpose of the NSO is to insure that claimants for VA benefits have qualified representation in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims for veterans benefits as prescribed by law.Chapter and Department Officers assist claimants in applying for benefits and services through the VA by way of the NSO. Department and Chapter Service Officers must be certified annually by successful completion of required training under the supervision of the National Service Program.Chapter and Department Service Officers provide one of the most important links in the organization. We are responsible for providing and gathering information to assist in obtaining benefits and services available to veteran, their dependents, and survivors. Our purpose is to advise and direct claimants, and to forward all communication and information to the NSCs.
