About Ranganath Gunawardane

I like writing code, which works out well because that's what I do for a living.I started my career developing embedded solutions for multi-function printers. I also developed IoT solutions for smart meters where I discovered the oddly fun world of low-power network communication. Developing solutions for these power and resource-constrained devices instilled in me an appreciation for writing efficient code.In between, I worked in FinTech, where I collaborated with a talented team in developing electronic trading platforms. These platforms were large, distributed, high-volume, low-latency systems that introduced me to a variety of different yet equally interesting challenges.All these diverse experiences have taught me valuable lessons. And in my current role at PaperCut, I frequently draw upon those lessons, whether I'm working with OS-level print spooler internals or developing backend servers.Technologies change, but one thing remains constant: the awesomeness of the teams I've had the privilege to work with. I immensely enjoy collaborating with people, whether in a leadership position or as an individual contributor. Over the last 15 years, across three countries, I've had the opportunity to work with, and most importantly, learn from the best.I have primarily been working with C and C++. However, for the past 5 years, my go-to (pun intended) language has been Golang.
