I am a current graduate student in the Cognition & Perception Program, in the Psychology Department at New York University. My overarching research goal is to gain a better understanding of how the human visual system encodes information about space and time. I will be focusing on visual field asymmetries pertaining motion perception using psychophysical, neuroimaging, and computational modeling tools.Prior to my graduate track, I have conducted research in both academia and clinical realms. Previous projects include analysis of eye-tracking data in a vision lab; functional MRI data in cognitive neuroscience lab studying Austism Spectrum Disorder; and fMRI/sMRI/DTI in a neurology lab at Massachusetts General Hospital studying dementia and language aphasias. Skilled in Python & MATLAB. Particularly focused on robust and replicable science. BA in Psychology and Philosophy from Boston University, 2015.

I have been a member of the Imaging Research Operations team at the Dickerson Lab. My work involved pipeline building for imaging the preprocessing and analysis of structural, functional, and diffusion tensor imaging. The central question of interest is the degree in which cognition affects perception, commonly referred to as top-down effects. For example, looking at the perceptual system as a computational system, when/how do higher level cognitive processes effect oculomotor behavior and when/how do the lower level eye movements more directly determine our percepts?

Undergraduate experience. Under the supervision of Dr. Brenda Phillips, I did research on how students perceive and group animals as similar or dissimilar. I assessed two factors, (1) methods of categorization, and (2) opinions about conservation. Methods of categorization looked at whether subjects would determine animal relatedness based on morphology or the information provided by nested-circle diagrams; in addition subjects categorized animals as wild or domesticated. Opinions about conservation where determined by written responses reasoning about why/why not certain animals should be protected.I then looked at whether (1) methods of categorization, and (2) opinions about conservation would correspond to demographic variables. I found that scores on the religious scale positively correlate with scores of teleological reasoning about biology. In addition, subjects with higher self-reported religiosity were more willing to protect wild animals.

Undergraduate experience. I spent a year doing research on the meaning of reality and how the term "ontology"​ has transformed over the conceptual development of physics. I demonstrate how objectivity can be maintained although the classical, mereological understanding of fundamental metaphysics has been overridden. I also talk about the shift of ontology especially through the lens of Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity and through the beginning stages of Quantum Mechanics. Finally, I show my understanding of the debate between realism and instrumentalism--how these perspectives become very relevant but also somewhat trivial with these conceptual changes in ontology. The meaning and our understanding of mathematics, science, and physicality either must be re-conceptualized or rejected entirely as paradigm shifts occur.
