Ranjeev was the legal lead for IV's patent portfolio (a few thousand assets) related to semiconductors, memory, components & equipment sector. As the legal lead, Ranjeev collaborated with a cross-functional team, including finance, business development, strategy, and engineering leads, and led the legal function for acquisitions, divestitures, and licensing engagements in this sector. Ranjeev also: (1) led the development of assertion-based patent licensing offerings and sale offerings, and (2) negotiated patent license agreements, covenants not to sue, and standstill agreements. Since joining IV in June 2010 as a Senior Licensing Attorney, in dozens of engagements, related to memory, processor, and semiconductor technologies, Ranjeev was the lead attorney with respect to business and/or technical discussions with companies worldwide. This included, in tens of face-to-face meetings with business executives and lawyers at semiconductor, memory, consumer electronics, and software companies in California and Japan: (1) demonstrating the value of the licensing or sale offerings, (2) defending the scope and the validity of the asserted patents, and (3) negotiating complex license agreements. In addition, Ranjeev directed strategic prosecution of high-value patent families.

During over five years at Finnegan, Ranjeev advised some of the largest telecom, computer, software, and semiconductor companies in the world on patent related matters. As part of his law practice Ranjeev litigated patent cases in Federal Courts, counseled clients, including providing written opinions, and represented them at the US PTO in contested proceedings and by preparing and prosecuting patent applications. Three representative patent litigations in which Federal District Courts issued opinions resulting in favorable outcomes for the defendants are: Broadcast Innovation, LLC v. EchoStar Communications Corp., 240 F.Supp.2d 1127 (D. Colo. 2003); MLMC, Ltd. v. AirTouch Communications, Inc., 215 F.Supp.2d 464 (D. Del. 2002); andMLMC, Ltd. v. AirTouch Communications, Inc., 172 F.Supp.2d 557 (D. Del. 2001).

Led the IT function at the UNC School of Media and Journalism. Planned and led the expansion of the school's IT infrastructure from a print/radio/video era to the Internet era. Taught students and faculty the use of the Internet-enabled technologies in the field of journalism and mass communication.
