Ranjit Bar embarked on his philanthropic journey in 2014 while pursuing a B.Tech. degree in Dehradun. Encountering a destitute family during his college days, particularly witnessing the plight of their children begging, deeply moved him. Offering significant financial support to the family with the condition of enrolling the children in school, Ranjit found purpose in their enthusiasm for learning. Despite their departure back to Aligarh after six months, leaving him shattered, Ranjit's resolve to make a difference intensified.In 2016, Ranjit, along with his compassionate friends, founded the Building Dreams Foundation. Together, they spearheaded efforts to enroll and educate 431 children across four schools within a year. Today, their impact extends to over 3,000 children, a testament to their unwavering commitment.When faced with the choice between completing his degree and continuing his NGO work, Ranjit chose the latter, sacrificing personal academic pursuits for the greater good. Dedicated to promoting social development among disadvantaged children and communities, BDF focuses on providing essential resources such as food, education, environmental protection, and community empowerment.Recognizing that traditional academic education alone is insufficient, BDF's "Doorstep After-School Education" program fosters holistic development through extracurricular activities. Initiatives like Digi Ed and Back to School ensure access to quality education, while projects like Udaan assist children and youth in identifying suitable career paths.In response to alarming statistics on child hunger, BDF addresses food insecurity through programs like community fridges and zero food waste, having provided over 420,000 meals to date.
