Technical lead position within the Backup team to manage and support the backup infrastructure of the HMRC estate. Key achievements include:Supported an enterprise backup infrastructure of ~50 Symantec/VERITAS NetBackup Enterprise Master servers versions 5.1 to 7.1 with multiple SAN media servers and standard clients, ~15 EMC Networker backups servers versions 6.1 to 7.5 across UNIX & Wintel platforms.Managed new backup project implementations, including multiple tech-refresh projects for database backups of Oracle (RMAN), MS-SQL, Exchange, NDMP as well as standard based.Monitoring and managing data backups to ensure successful completion and take corrective action in the event of failure.Troubleshooting backup/storage issues through to resolution.Reviewed and provided input into technical docuemtation produced by Architects and Designers.Provided 24/7 on call cover as Duty Manager & for 3rd line backup failure investigation/resolution and server/system restores.

TUPE transfered from EDS to Capgemini to support & manage the backup infrastructure as part of the transfer of the Inland Revenue account from EDS to Aspire. In addition to duties within job role while at EDS, key achievements included:Introduced and supported VERITAS NetBackup Enterprise Master backup servers versions 5.1 to 6.0 to the datacentre estates.Implemented VERITAS NetBackup SAN-based media servers and standard clients.Facilitated the support of backups; from implementation, monitoring and failure identification through to resolution.

Initially employed to supervise the implementation of computer systems and infrastructures into offices throughout the UK while supervising a team of Engineers and third party contractors before gaining promotion to Systems Administrator (Networker Backup Specialist), playing a key role as part of the Backup and Restoration team.Key achievements included:Supported and administered Networker backup infrastructures across the Inland Revenue account, spanning +1,500 backup servers / clients.Played an integral role in the management of disaster recovery and server rebuilds.Supported various backup devices and technologies, such as: StorageTek Libraries, ACSLS software, ATL and Overland units, DLT and LTO tape technology.Built and installed servers, workstations, switches and other computer peripherals while overseeing hardware and software configuration, assembly and upgrades.Administered hardware / software audits and inventory, alongside data migration issues and management report preparation.
