Part of a large development team working on a green-field project.Involved in full stack design and development of an extensive AngularJS single page app written in TypeScript, utilising the latest .Net technologies including ASP.MVC and SignalR.I spent a large proportion of time building client-side features with AngularJS though also helped design and implement core back-end functionality such as the introduction of server side event bus (RabbitMQ) which was then streamed in real time to the client.Keen to streamline the team’s workflow I introduced a number of Grunt tasks.

Part of an eight man team managing and developing Phalanx, a logistics process platform for Web and Mobile. Phalanx is built on top of ASP.Net MVC, SQL Server and other Microsoft technologies on the server, with a JavaScript client for desktop and mobile users. I have coded extensively on all components of the system from frontend to backend.My role combined software developer with team leader, in addition to the responsibilities of project and account management. I was responsible for a number of Spartan’s largest and most successful projects, managing small teams to tight deadlines and budgets. Customers have often been Blue Chip companies with six project figure budgets, with projects involving a number of third party stakeholders.I am passionate about new technology, and championed and developed many key technical advances in the product, such as:• A CouchDB based replication model communications between backend C# services to mobile clients• Full JavaScript implementation of an offline capable, HTLM5 mobile client• Lucene.Net search indexes for dynamic and fast user queries• Replacement of legacy SQL Stored Procedures with streamlined NHibernate database accessI am experienced with all parts of the software lifecycle. I have visited customers internationally, analysing their business processes and capturing requirements. I am a keen proponent of unit testing, including JavaScipt, but have also designed and participated in manual test scenarios.

My Masters industrial placement was an internship with Philips Research, at the NatLab Eindhoven. Working in the Embedded Vision Group, I was to produce a system able to recognise road signs, using their smart camera platform, WiCa.My work formed the basis of a patent application by Philips and was published in the paper I co-authored, Object Recognition Using the Relative Position of Feature Points (Corners), accepted to the SPS-DARTS conference 2007. Working in a foreign country, and in an international team, helped me to further develop my communication skills and teamwork as well as my technical abilities.

My project was to create a means of auditing the network setup within the London Campus.My final product was a suite of scripts that produced an Excel document of its findings, accessed through a web front end.In addition to technical skills I also learned a little about the financial industry, and in particular the workings of a large investment bank.
