My goal is to positively impact the world using scientific innovation, especially around climate change. I'm lucky to have had the chance to do this past positions like Activate and am even luckier to continue to be doing this now at Material Impact. By leveraging everything I learned at Tuck as well as my VC, market research, and entrepreneurial experiences, I can not only coach science entrepreneurs, but also actively work with them to overcome obstacles that will ultimately increase their chance to have that positive impact. I worked to commercialize flexible pressure and temperature sensor arrays developed at UT Dallas for a variety of applications for the internet of things. Using these sensor arrays, we could create products such as a 3D-touchscreen for tracking finger movement above and through the screen, proximity sensors for tracking human activity, and on-skin sensor arrays for tracking pulse, blood pressure, blood flow, and temperature gradients. I focused on developing the technical strategy and underlying technology, manufacturing devices, and tailoring the devices to address specific consumer needs.

At UT Dallas, I explored novel polymer designs for applications in flexible electronics, wearable electronics, health monitoring, and 3D printing. I advised prototyping of bioelectronic devices and developed the microfabrication processing for flexible sensor arrays. Worked under Prof. Zhenan Bao and Prof. Gerald Fuller to study carbon nanotube/conductive polymer composite solutions. Specifically, I researched the potential to improve transparent electrode performance for solution-cast single-walled carbon nanotube films. I led the project by managing it from both a detail-oriented view and a general overview of the project. I discovered certain semidilute carbon nanotube/polymer dispersions produce a weak, birefringent gel that is amenable to alignment. I then correlated the alignment of deposited films with transparent electrode performance, finding that moderate alignment produced the greatest transparent electrode performance. I also produced aligned carbon nanotube fibers using similar dispersions. I published three first-author papers from this work.
