My innate urge to work for the under privileged and the dismally poor, began to take shape in the mid '70s. Opportunities came to work with NGOs working for the rural poor ( BCT - Bhagavatula Charitable Trust in AP was the first one). Since then, it had been a steep learning curve for voluntarism in reaching out to the poor and disadvantaged.Formal retirement in 1995 from the PSU service, enabled me to take up to volunteering on full time basis, with focus on evolving sustained livelihoods through empowering women and youth. Other major projects of his involvement pertain to village cluster development, rehabilitation of street children and other challenged, menstrual hygiene health and nutrition of adolescent girls. Currently working on "Holistic Wellness" of the aged and the chronically ill, in Homes for Senior Citizens.I am an alumni of the Indian Institute of Science, has six decades of professional service, divided almost equally, though in an intertwined way, between being a technocrat in oil-sector's national and international bodies, and being a grass roots level worker in the country's voluntary sector working for rural development.Beginning as a researcher in CSIR's Petroleum Institute in Dehradun and moving on to public sector joint ventures with MNCs Lubrizol and Chevron to senior management and Board level positions. I presided over petroleum product standards upgradation to safeguard environment at National (BIS) and International (ISO) levels
