Marshall Memorial Fellow
CurrentThe Marshall Memorial Fellowship (MMF) is GMF's flagship leadership development program. Created in 1982 to introduce a new generation of European leaders to the United States, it now prepares leaders from both sides of the Atlantic to "strengthen transatlantic relations while enabling pro-democracy leaders from business, government, and civil society to create new forms of collaboration through public diplomacy". The Fellowship involves 6 months of distance learning and 24 days of first-hand experience to facilitate knowledge and network development for effective transatlantic engagement with appointments in countries varying among the Fellows. Awarded in 2020, I traveled in 2022 due to COVID's impact. My assignments were Washington D.C., Charlotte (NC), Denver (CO), Phoenix (AZ) and New York City. GMF awards 75 Marshall Memorial Fellowships each year, split between U.S. and Europe, to candidates from all sectors. The MMF alumni network numbers more than 2,500 leaders. Transatlantic engagement continues throughout their careers with GMF alumni projects, seminars and major events.
