As a Staff Architect at Hypermode, an early startup booming in the AI space, I'm working on making dreams real: translating our strategy and our initial customers and partners' innovative ideas into pieces of working software involving a mix of data retrieval, vector similarity search, NLP, semantic analysis and AI.This position gives me the privilege to spend my time doing research and implementing solutions involving ML models, LLMs, and Inference tasks. This covers the identification of best application use cases, fine tuning, performance evaluation, production hosting and versioning strategies, etc. I evaluate how we can simplify things for application developers who just want to add recommendations, intelligent search, text summarization, text generation, copilots and other AI-driven features to their applications. I help our first customers to put AI in production so that they can get results rapidly, learn how to leverage ML models, and how to improve their use cases overtime.At this stage of the company, I’m also involved in product design, product requirements, QA, pre-sales, partners relations, feature prototypes, and marketing! Startups are definitely a nice place for seasoned engineers. It is really satisfying to use the knowledge and software practices acquired over those years in the industry and to keep learning. We want Hypermode to become the platform of choice for application developers having to deal with AI tasks and ML models.

It’s usually difficult to understand what people are really doing by reading their enigmatic job title on linked in, isn’t it. Maybe because by keeping things unclear we can all pretend having important and exciting jobs, or simply because it is sometimes difficult to explain. After 25 years+ in the software industry, my own family cannot tell what my job consists in. As I’m home office, often visiting customers all around the world with usually short notice, speaking coded languages over the phone in meetings, my kids believe I’m a spy. It’s good for my ego so I let them believe so.My job is however simple to explain: I help companies to innovate and take advantage of information technologies, in domains such as business process optimization, analytics, real-time data processing, data science, analytics, data integration, low-code applications. I enjoy listening to customers and business lines, understand what they want to achieve and work with a team of software professionals to architect and deliver the best supporting solution. I did so for companies in telco, finance, retails, hospitality, logistics, insurance, transportation.
