Senior AssociateEdaw / Aecom Design + Planning Sep 2008 - Apr 2010New York CityRESPONSIBILITIES• To create a design strength in New York to complement those of the San Francisco and London offices. I oversaw a significant part of the Streetscape Program (paving & furnishings) design development for the World Trade Center Redevelopment. • Most of my responsibilities were as project architect for the schematic design of the Liberty Park component. I was responsible for all presentations and coordination with the varied engineers and architects of the neighboring parcels in addition to the design. Under the guidance of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, my task was to shepherd and coordinate all documents for design approval sessions at the various levels of authority at the PA, and ultimately with the Commissioner of the City Planning Department of New York, Amanda Burden.ACCOMPLISHMENTS• In addition to the continued project design role that follows from previous positions, this experience presented a methodical city approval process. Specifically with the WTC, the merits of a design’s development are considered by the Commissioner’s staff at the City Planning Department on a regular basis and are followed by a presentation to the Commissioner herself. In the context of the multitude of stakeholders, active as well as sideline-many very influential in the New York community-the backing of the DCP brings the highest level of authority to support a design. The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey grew to adapt this process of acceptance. I quickly became the facilitator for the Port Authority to exercise its ability to seek the approvals to set milestones in the development of the site design. I gained the trust of our client and project principal and was the representative at PA and stakeholder meetings, and also made the presentations to the DCP, often with the New York office P.I.C. and company chairman.

Landscape ArchitectSasaki Sep 2005 - Apr 2008San Francisco, CaliforniaRESPONSIBILITIES• To inject a contemporary design direction into an established practice. The focus of two projects centered on the fine grain of the ground surface by creating the pattern of joints and scoring that complement a larger theme. The conceptual design of visitor pavilions extends this interpretation for the Port of Los Angeles Wilmington Buffer and the BART Urban Village in Pleasant Hill. An academic courtyard for the University of California system was the subject of a third; while a fourth capitalized on a tropical setting to create a four-level landscape for the University of Hong Kong. The schematic design of a village setting for a year-round resort in Colorado was an opportunity to study a larger scale.ACCOMPLISHMENTS• The designs were very well received by clients and progressed into the phase of construction documents. The work environment permitted a great deal of collaboration within the office among architects and landscape architects, many of whom offered strong innovative technical advice and horticultural sensibilities. An academic courtyard was the chosen submittal in a competition for the University of California system. Several graphic award submittals were successful. -
