The goal of this project was to investigate and design a power electronics system capable of supplying ultra-high voltages (>8000V) from a low voltage (12V) power supply to dielectric elastomer actuators (a.k.a artificial muscles) and of subsequently recovering the energy stored in them. The whole system was destined to power a new kind of heart assist device.A functional prototype was ultimately successfuly designed, manufactured, assembled and tested by myself. -
