I am a Professor of Agricultural and Development Economics with over 20 years of teaching and research experience in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, University of Ilorin, Nigeria. I obtained a first class honours Bachelor degree and Master degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and a Ph.D. from the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Social Sciences in the Tropics and Sub-Tropics, University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. Evidenced by internationally peer-reviewed publications, my main research area is in domain of Agricultural and Development Economics. Under this main theme, I have focused more on poverty and food insecurity issues in developing countries, working on topics such as the drivers of poverty and malnutrition and economics of malnutrition in developing countries. In addition, I focused on Impact Evaluations of programmes, policies and technologies that aim at reducing poverty and food insecurity to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In the most recent past, I have also focused on climate change impact and resilience to climate-related risks and shocks. My research in this area includes economic analysis of adaptation, coping and livelihood diversification strategies against extreme and unexpected climatic shocks as well as estimating the costs and benefits of adaptation strategies adopted to address climate variability (too low and/too high rainfall, temperature, humidity) on the economies of the poor households. My teaching assignments in recent years include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Advanced Agricultural Development and Policy, Econometrics, Research Methodology, Project Planning and Appraisal, Agricultural Production Economics and Agricultural Finance. I have completed the supervision of 150 students including 112 Bachelor, 30 Master and 8 Doctoral students. I have published up to 120 articles in peer-reviewed outlets including 13 papers in Scopus indexed journals. Outside of the academic, I also work as a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) specialist with the CAADP Technical Experts network to support ECOWAS and the African Union Commission (AUC) in preparation of the Malabo Declaration Biennial Review report and Africa Agriculture Transformation Scorecards.With regards to personal traits, I can describe myself as very intelligent, resourceful, hardworking and highly motivated young academic. In most academic assessment, I ranked among the top 2% of my classmates.
