Production Line Mechanic Assembler (1978-1979)Manufacturing Engineer (1979-1980) A-10A ProgramSr Manufacturing Engineer (1981-1984) SF-340 Program - ME Group Leader (with staff of 5) responsible for all (FRC & Vendor) Tooling, Detail Operation Sheets and creation / maintenance of Assembly Workbooks & Staging for the entire Engine Nacelle. This was a company funded full development program. In August 1984 I proposed a design solution to a long standing problem on the SF-340 airplane that was preventing FAA/JAA certification. At maximum engine power settings and at IAS of Vr and Vx there was insufficient longitudinal control authority to counter the effect of engine torque and P-factor. There was little time in the race to be the first OEM to certify its aircraft in accordance CFR 14, FAR Part 135 by designing and certifying an opposite turning engine gearbox and propeller, in order to offset the effects of torque and P-factor. I devised a design solution and alignment fixture that allowed the Nacelle structure to be cut along a station line, re- positioned 5 degree to the right of the existing center-line and fastened with splice plates and gussets. This modification required 4 technicians for a one week period to accomplish this work in the field. This modification was performed (retrofit) on the first 15 airplanes facilitating FAA/JAA certification and customer deliveries and was incorporation in production aircraft 16 & subsequent.
