I am entering my fourth year of my MBChB course at the University of Birmingham in August 2024 having recently completed an intercalated BA in Medical Humanities. I was selected for an Arthur Thomson Trust intercalating scholarship during my BA to support my research project into the intersection between LGBTQ+ identities and professionalism.I am the Co-Chair of GLADD - The Association of LGBTQ+ Doctors and Dentists, making history as the youngest ever elected Chair of the organisation, having been elected at the age of 21. Through this role I engage in activism and education projects, delivering lectures at the University of Birmingham and Aston University. I was a Student Representative on the Advisory Group on the GLADD committee from 2022-2024. I have also educated about digital accessibility, working with the Higher Education Futures institute (HEFi) among other organisations to produce MicroCPD videos and speaking at panel events. I presented a MicroCPD on 'The Importance of Accurate Video Captions For Learning', which explained how important captions are for students with a wide range of needs, and not just for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students. I'm very proud to be the first student to have ever delivered a MicroCPD with HEFi. At university I have been awarded two scholarships, one for my musical ability and one for my research, and the 2024 Gilbert Barling Essay Prize. In my spare time I am a theatre reviewer, covering theatre and opera in London and the West Midlands.
