Event OrganiserBakslap Aug 2019 - Dec 2020Sunshine CoastThe inaugural Australia’s Biggest Bakslap brought together Aussies around the country to support the melanoma community. It’s was an opportunity to be part of a fun sunscreen challenge, enjoy summer responsibly, whilst making sun safety easy and accessible.December 14 was a family friendly free event at Mooloolaba Beach, Sunshine Coast Queensland. Over 1100 registrations with participants taking part in setting the first record for Australia’s Biggest Sunscreen Challenge, people simultaneously applying sunscreen for 3 minutes. It showed Aussies are serious about sun safety as we kicked off summer.

It entailed cycling 1900kms over 24 days from Adelaide to Sydney raising money and awareness for melanoma, endorsed by Melanoma Institute Australia (www.cyclingtomarch.com).Raised $86,000 of combined donations and sponsorship (e.g Toyota, Caltex, Western Bulldogs AFL Club) Initiated and managed event media before and during event. Coverage included ABC National Radio, Allan Jones, WIN & TEN News featured stories, extensive national and regional newspapers.Wrote content, designed and maintained event website and managed a team of eight resources (developers, photographers, film makers and graphic designers) including some off-shore. Received letters of recognition from: Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott - Lord Mayor of South Australia and New South Wales - received an Australian of the Year 2015 nomination.
