Joined KOLAL as an insurance sales agent in the life department. My main tasks are to go out in the field, to prospect and sell insurance policies for our company. The products I deal with are;Orient Smart Educator-a education insurance plan, Orient Smart Asset- a savings insurance plan, Orient 4 Life- an endowment insurance plan and the Group Life Expense- a funeral cover for registered welfares and Chamas, Pensions and Annuities.

I work as a cashier at Givepower solar water farm in Bamburi. My duties are:1. To receive and post our orders, bill payments from our bowser deliveries, walk in clients and third-party bowser.2. To liase with the bowser team on orders received and deliveries to be made.3. Control and run our water production system and also to do water quality analysis.4. Do end of day cashier reports and submit reports and readings on the relevant postings.5. Work with my line manager in resolving cash reconciliation issues.6. Adress customers complaints in swiftly and in a professional manner.In addition to the duties above; I sometimes step in for the manager when on leave or on off days in managing my fellow colleagues, solving issues arising on my level and brief the senior site manger in charge. I compile daily reports on any issues pertaining staffs, delivery, the truck, cancelled orders, system breakdown and anything regarding the site as a whole. This helps give a clear breakdown on my line manger’s report shared on the management meetings. I am also conversant with few applications such as Deputy, Approval Max, Zoho expense, since I have been trained by line manager.

My main task is to oversee sales of our bowser delivery services. This is done by acquiring a deep understanding of the market (seasonality, existing and potential customers, their needs etc.) prospecting and acquiring customers while educating them on our mission and value. I have been able to build network of customers while maintaining a good relationship with them and coordinate deliveries for their orders efficiently. This has helped me grow not only our bulk delivery customers number since the start of the Mtongwe solar water farm but also awareness, responsibility and impact of our water farm in the community and Mtongwe area at large.

I was employed on a contract basis at the ordinary life department in the operations sector. My main duties were launching of Direct Debit mandates on a daily basis whereas I had to go through them and see if they were correctly filled and launch them. This is followed by making a report for respective banks for the launched mandates as indicated in the mandates and attach the report together with the mandates to send them to the bank. I also dealt with cancellation of direct debits as requested by the clients and also rejecting the launched mandates according to reasons given by bank. I was also in the checkoff sector where I was mainly tasked with booking of payments for various policy holders who pay by cheque or Eft but through the company they work for and send them for receipting to the finance department. My other task was also to file proposal forms by creating files for them in the system and storing them in batches. I was also tasked with dispatch of policy documents to respective branches of ICEA LION for pick up by respective agents.

Worked at both the actuarial and medical departments where I was mostly tasked with:Writing reports: This entailed writing reports for various insurance companies in which Kenbright did brokerage services. Here it entailed giving a summary of key statistics e.g., Gross Direct Premium, Gross Written Premium (GWP), Net Earned Premium, Incurred Claims, Net Commission and Management Expenses. Also, you give a summary of performance per line of business in terms of GWP i.e. Aviation, Engineering, Liability, Marine, Motor Private, Theft, Medical and Personal Accident and also summary in terms of performance per line of business in terms of Incurred claims and lastly the performance ratios i.e. Net commission, Profit Ratio, Net claims, Retention ratio.Doing data checks: This is the same as finding out if the details given in the data are true i,e. Firstly check if the policy no is unique it does not repeat itself, find out if the policy start date is less than or comes before the policy end date, find if the policy start date comes before the valuation date since a policy cannot start after the valuation day and also if the policy end date comes after or on the valuation date.Data analysis: This is the next stage after doing the data checks and one can analyze the data depending on what you need from the data. Here you can find the Unearned Premium Reserves (UPR) and this is the amount of unexpired premiums on policies or contracts as of a certain date (the total annual premium less the amount earned) and are regarded as liabilities. After the data checks you have to put indicators to find the UPR and these are:finding the policy duration, duration to expiry of the policy and the premium and thus the UPR will be ((duration to expiry/policy duration) *premium) I also did summary of premiums or claims paid out in terms of inpatient and outpatient in a scheme.
