His PhD research focused on Simulation Tools for designing rail interchanges, exploring artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Other research interests include investigating the technical potential of blockchain technologies as an enabler for distributed finance , cyber protection and climate transitionRaphael completed his first degree in 2000 from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro, (Brazil) in Social Studies. He obtained an MSc in Transport Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 2007. Whilst studying for his MSc, he was nominated twice for Best paper on Transport by the Brazillian Central Urban Transport Association (CBTU).He has worked for several years as a consultant for disruptive technology development and participated in a number of national and international conferences and workshops.
