I LOVE DOORS. There is tremendous gratification when you can architect a DOORS project and see it make sense to the people you work with. Assisting engineers and being an integral part of why that team is successful is where I exceed.I remember when my team was facing a major payment milestone having to deliver to our customer 70 documents by a specified date. These documents were housed within DOORS, had to be exported into MS Word, formatted, signed-off, formally released into our data management tool and then delivered to the customer. This required planning, scheduling and managing the effort. One person could not do all of this. It had to be done as a team. The engineers peer-reviewed the content, I controlled the changes made to DOORS and when the word was given, my co-worker and myself exported the documents, formatted the Word files, and got them signed-off. The documents were handed off to the Product Data Management (PDM) team to release, and deliver to the customer. The feeling I get when this happens is why I get up and go to work every day.My background in software configuration management and change control helps with the management of a DOORS database. I understand how these tools work, how they work together, and how to facilitate their use to help a team and not hinder it. Sometimes we focus so much on the tool itself, and not how to use the tool in the daily workflow. Let me be a part of your team, and together we can achieve success.
