An update: I’ve been in semi-retirement mode for the past couple of years, having visited Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Austria, Slovakia, Norway, Sweden, Turkey and Cameroon. I'm busy with my non-profit Engineers Without Borders chapter, managing a Forest Service public recreation site master planning and upgrade project, and with a water systems repair/upgrade project in Cameroon, West Africa. I was the acting team manager for an engineering assessment trip to Teze, Cameroon in July, 2017, as part of a new 5 year+ relationship between EWB/LA and the Cameroon village.I’ve also joined forces with Encorps, a STEM teacher training non-profit organization, and through this group I’m currently “shadowing” a host teacher at the Tennenbaum Family Technology High School, to support his efforts in introducing high school students to technology studies. As I keep saying, never boring!!!

It's an interesting world we live in. After almost 3 years of living and working in Africa, I've been living in my own home again in the Los Angeles area, working with friends I've known for a long time. At LA ProPoint I managed a project which was installed at Universal Studios Hollywood, and opened to the public on June 25, 2015, part of the new finale segment of the tram tour based on the Fast and Furious film franchise. My philosophy of never being bored still holds. I adjusted to the culture shock of returning from South Sudan to our little slice of paradise, although my brain still finds the things we take for granted here to be worth balancing against what exists in the world outside our comfort zone.

This was a short-lived assignment. I had 2 months continuance of my previous construction oversight assignment for the State Dept. in South Sudan, until Dec 20th, 2013, when our teams were instructed to leave South Sudan and seek safe haven elsewhere due to internal conflicts which were destabilizing the country. Technically I was on unpaid leave through June 11, but the country didn't restabilize and the State Dept. put its efforts on indefinite hold.The job assignment with Creative Corrections LLC was the same as it was with MSS Services Inc., via a revised State Dept task order contract (see below).

Construction Management Consultant under contract with the U.S. State Department, on assignment to the Republic of South Sudan. I worked with the "rule of law" capacity building teams in the State Department and the United Nations. Construction projects included a new College of Law for the University of Juba, and extensive site development for a National Prison Service Management Training Academy.
