I hold a Bachelor in Biology (2001) and PhD in Nutrition and Metabolism (2007) from University of Barcelona. During my PhD I worked in the preclinical studies of the development of oleoyl estrone as drug for the treatment of obesity. This work was awarded with the extraordinary doctorate prize.After my PhD, I pursued my postdoctoral training at the research group led by Prof. Badimon, integrated into the Cardiovascular Research Center (CSIC-ICCC) (2007), where I was awarded with a postdoctoral fellowship from the JAE-Doc Program at Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) (2008-2011) and a postdoctoral contract Sara Borrell from Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación-Instituto de Salud Carlos III (2011-2015). During this period, I mainly focused on the field of stem cells, with particular interest on the phenotypic and functional characterization of stem cells derived from white adipose tissue (ASCs). I conducted research studying the impact of obesity and type II diabetes on the angiogenic potential and regeneration of ASCs and the use of ASCs as a tool for studying the molecular mechanisms controlling adipogenesis and expandability of white adipose tissue allowing the identification of potential therapeutic targets. From January 2014 to May 2015, I carried out my stay related to the Sara Borrell contract at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) under the supervision of Prof. Raya, where I acquired an invaluable expertise in the field of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).In 2015 I joined the Center of Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona (CMRB) as postdoctoral researcher, where my research was focused on the study of the molecular links between diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders. After the merge of CMRB with the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), I work as Technical Coordinator at Program for Clinical Translation of Regenerative Medicine in Catalonia (P-CMRC).I have published 21 papers in multiple areas, 13 as first author and 1 as a corresponding author. I have presented my results in more than 40 national and international conferences and scientific meetings. I have actively participated in numerous projects, outreach and teaching activities.
