I have been an RN for 16 years and have been working in the Hospice setting for 15 years. Hospice is my PASSION in life. I have worked as a case manager, on-call nurse, admissions nurse, crisis care nurse, triage nurse for several hospices nationwide, Team Lead Nurse during my Hospice experience. I have been profiled as Employee of the Quarter for catching a medication error before it could reach the patient. I have sat on a Risk Management Board to help prevent medication errors in the workplace. I have sat on QUAPI Boards to help reduce the risk of infections in the workplace as well and reducing the amount of re-admissions of hospice patients to the hospital. I have scheduled face to face visits with the hospice medical director within the time frame set forth under Medicare guidelines. I have been in charge of performing supervisory ride alongs with nurses and home health aides and have been given charge of training hospice and home health nurses with procedures in the field such as pleurex catheter drainage, suprapubic catheter change and care, blood draws and other clinical skills. I am a strong hospice nurse, a strong triage nurse (whether via phone triage or on-call triaging) and hospice is what I love. I love helping people at end of life and helping them to keep their dignity by dying the way they want, surrounded by who they want.
