UChicago Recognized Student Organization collaborating with local Chicago schools to spark a love for STEM in elementary students from low-income communities. Through engaging, hands-on weekly experiments, we aim to bridge the socioeconomic gap in STEM education by encouraging kids to take on roles as Students, Collaborators, and Instructors to build their confidence and curiosity in STEM. As Director of Outreach, leading volunteer recruitment and partnership efforts. Helping Spanish-only speaking students understand science lessons through Spanish translation, ensuring full engagement for all students.

Scientella is a student-run, adult-guided fiscally sponsored non-profit organization empowering the next generation of women STEM innovators by matching young women with real-world career discovery experiences, impact-minded leadership development opportunities, and scholarships. Through innovative experiential learning “matches” (student consulting projects, mentorships, webinars, company visits), impact-leadership responsibilities, and rich interactions with role models, Scientella enables middle/high school girls to gain the resume, skills, and confidence to thrive in careers of their choice and narrow the STEM gap.As General Manager and Co-Founder, I oversee student leaders, collaborate with our Advisory Board, assist with matchmaking, lead strategic partnership initiatives, recruit global high school chapters, and direct member communications.To date, Scientella has served 500+ students, created 750 matches, involved 70+ professional role models, holds 20 global high school chapters, and raised $200,000+ in donations.

Lab focuses on behavioral randomized trials and implementation science research methods to develop, evaluate, and implement patient/system level interventions to improve quality of care for chronic disease patients (notably asthma and COPD). Part of Technology Survey, seeking to better understand patient technology access and electronic health literacy. Screening of eligible/ineligible participants via EPIC and interaction with patients for survey conduction via REDCap. Assisting with systematic literature reviews.

Cardiovascular tissue engineering lab using 3D bioprinting and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to regenerate patient-specific vascular heart tissue and improve patient quality of life. Group leader of the CFD group, working to evaluate heart vessel morphologies over time and analyze hemodynamic metrics to inform surgical planning and improve patient outcomes. Creation of 3D models via ScanIP and analysis via MATLAB and Abaqus. Oversight and training of other CFD Group Members. Assisting with systematic literature reviews, scientific paper and abstract writing, and research conference presentations. Output of 1 publication, 1 oral presentation, and 4 posters.

UChicago Recognized Student Organization dedicated to fostering community among Latinx pre-med students, supporting professional development tailored to the needs of the Latinx community, and advancing medical advocacy for underserved populations in the Chicagoland area.As Education Chair, organized educational presentations for general meetings on health disparities impacting Latinx communities and the underrepresentation of Latinx individuals in medicine. Invited guest speakers to enhance awareness, encourage informed discussions, and inspire advocacy among members.

Assays & Development intern for Bionano Genomics, a mission-driven biotech company working to transform the way the world sees the genome by providing genome analysis solutions, diagnostic services, and software. Developed an assay to determine the enzymatic activity of the DNA Methyltransferase (DLE-1) used in Bionano’s Direct Label and Stain (DLS) technology. Acquired hands-on experience with high molecular weight DNA isolation and labeling protocols, Saphyr chip loading & runs, and data analysis.

Remote intern for Navega Therapeutics, a biotech start-up crafting a CRISPR gene therapy that increases pain tolerance and lowers pain levels for people suffering from chronic or severe pain. Conducted online research backed up by scientific papers to investigate the number of neurons in the dorsal root ganglia, spinal cord, and brain of 3 species - mice, non-human primates, and humans. Created a final report with key information, graphs, and citations that will facilitate Navega's clinical trial transition from mice to non-human primates to humans.

Non-profit organization aiding underprivileged, homeless children through school supply/toiletry donations purchased with tutoring revenue. Tutored 5 kids in a variety of subjects for 50 hours & personally raised $700. Managed a website & social media page, as well as coordinated matches between students & tutors. Participated in donation trips. Created a GoFundMe campaign that raised $2,486 for the UCSD COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, which utilizes donations to expand clinical testing & develop treatments/vaccines. Donation matched by a private foundation to double impact.
