Telco and industry related projects included:o Telecoms: Managed projects to alter product design and technical infrastructure for economic efficiency. Managed technical migration projects to virtualised infrastructure.o E-Commerce: Managed Data Protection and Data Privacy projects, including implementation as well as managing of external data processors, and interim Data Protection Officer.Generally the role has involved:• Auditing and proposing improvements with regards to the technical architecture of telco networks, on behalf of clients and investors.• Assisting companies manoeuvre through their National and European regulatory processes.• Influencing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on behalf of clients to support their regulatory and financing requirements .

The National Competitiveness Council was established by Government in 1997. It reports to the Taoiseach on key competitiveness issues facing the Irish economy and offers recommendations on policy actions required to enhance Ireland’s competitive position.The NCC was established by the Government in May 1997 as part of the Partnership 2000 Agreement.Forfás, Ireland’s national policy advisory body for enterprise and science, provides the Council with research and secretariat support.

Following the acquisition of Leap Broadband by Magnet Networks, I managed the technical teams and network development and operations of the company.During this period Magnet was involved in a rapid network build phase, as well as integration of both Leap Broadband and Netsource on a technical and operational level.The company deployed a multi-technology access network including FTTH, WLL, and xDSL and operated a NGN core with multiple services such as VoIP, IPTV, IP Transit etc.I worked with, and managed, multiple suppliers and contractor as well as a significant team of both operations and development resources.

Leap Broadband was a leading business broadband provider operating in the major Irish urban markets.It provided services using licensed and license exempt wireless broadband technology, ADSL and SHDSL local loop unbundling, direct Fiber to the Business, as well as standard IP/Internet related services such as DNS/Web/Mail/Server hosting.I was responsible for the company's technical operations.This included, at a regulatory level; Liaising with eircom and comreg to secure effective access to telephone exchanges for the purposes of unbundling;Working with comreg to secure and maintain spectrum licenses within Ireland and participating in industry working groups as necessary.Leap was acquired into the Magnet Network group of companies in 2005.

The Information Society Commission undertook to study the issues of Broadband and Telecommunications Infrastructure as part of its remit.I was invited to become a member of the TIWG to advise and support the review and recommendations of the ISC to Government.A copy of one of the reports developed during my participation is available at:http://www.bos.rs/cepit/evolucija/html/13/knowledge_society-report.pdf

I was responsible for securing the company's frequency licenses and managing the Public Affairs relationships with Comreg, Department of Communications and others.I was responsible for the successful acquisition of EU Structural Funds to accelerate the roll out of the company's network build. This was worth circa six and a half million euros.I supported the successful spectrum acquisitions of Formus throughout Europe, as part of bid teams.
