I am a seasoned finance professional and began my career in banking 20 years ago. My passion for the community and my love for working with people to help them gain access to the financial system. I started at Superior Federal Bank back in 2003 as a Teller and have gained tons of experience with providing basic financial products and services. I also have attended banking school which broadened my knowledge base and provided me with insight that led me into Community Development banking. Having been on the traditional side of banking most of my career, and now gaining experience in CDFI world has helped me to grow in so many ways. Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) are the specialized financial institutions who are mission driven and intentional about advancing equity. Being on this side of finance has opened me up to new worlds, new people, and so much more opportunity. To share my knowledge and experience with individuals and communities who really need the support is what matters most to me. I have been able to expand my understanding of how the financial system works and how exclusion is a real issue for certain groups or populations who have historically been underserved by traditional financial institutions. It is my goal to help close the racial wealth gap by being a bridge to help community members understand what it means to be banked and to have an ongoing relationship with a banker.
