I have been working in the editorial department as an Editorial Assistant. My role has involved providing technical support to authors, editors and reviewers with using our online manuscript submission system Editorial Manager. I also work with the department for development of the journals including making reports, doing research, editing websites, and organising board meetings.

Started a funded research project on publication bias. Investigated if ethically approved research projects had been published. Conducted literature search to find relevant publications. Worked alongside HRA, contributing towards their incentive to promote research transparency.

Carried out biochemical investigation of protein-RNA interactions. Protein of interest was serum amyloid P component, a protein that has attracted therapeutic interest because of its possible involvement in amyloid diseases. My work involved using gel electrophoresis to study binding of SAP to RNA. Gained experience in running gels, spectrophotometry, gel analysis and data recording.
