I have worked as an assistant in the labs of the Center of Membranes and Advanced Water Technology (CMAT), a renowned research center at Khalifa University, as part of the Al Nokhba Program. This program is a prestigious initiative jointly coordinated by the National Service Authority and Khalifa University of Science and Technology. During my time at CMAT, I actively participated in synthesizing and casting novel combinations of various types of membranes with nanomaterials. These nanomaterials were designed to address the traditional challenges of membrane-based processes, such as improving the rejection efficiency of small and neutral molecules at low feed pressures and mitigating the fouling phenomenon. The fouling phenomenon requires continuous cleaning of the membrane, resulting in increased operating costs. To evaluate the effectiveness of these novel combinations, I employed a range of techniques for membrane characterization, including X-ray diffraction, basic Raman microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, zeta potential analysis, and goniometer analysis. Subsequently, I analyzed the data obtained from these characterization tools and provided comprehensive reports on my optimistic findings regarding the flux, efficiency, and anti-fouling properties of the membranes.Undoubtedly, this experience has been highly rewarding, allowing me to refine my practical and research skills. These skills will greatly contribute to my future endeavors and propel me toward success.
