My responsibilities as an Installation Engineer all serve towards making sure that our fiber optic cable systems are being laid safely and efficiently all around the world.I engineer the lay of subsea telecommunications cable on cable-laying ships. I have experience in surface lay of subsea cable, plow burial of cable, post-lay inspection and burial, pre-lay grapnel runs, and route clearance of out-of-service cables. Winfrog (navigation), MakaiLay (cable engineering), and Honeywell are essential softwares used on system installations and repairs. I create as-laid route position lists for Excel after the cable is laid. I constantly communicate with the ship's officers, crew, and customer rep to ensure that we are all one team and are working safely.I supervise cable loading operations in factory-to-ship and ship-to ship cable transfers by ensuring that the cable system and optical bodies (Repeaters, Branching Units, ROADMs, Splice Boxes) are loaded safely.I have engineer-in-charge experience for deep and shallow water repairs. I supervised and managed Cable, Jointing, Transmission, and Submersibles departments during cable operations. This involved writing daily reports by compiling data from the previous day, and sending it to the customer rep and captain for approval. I was also the liaison to the on-board customer rep, held monthly departmental meetings, and was solely responsible for submitting project documentation to the documentation group.I write methods of procedure and work instructions for installation vessels to follow. I review straight-line-diagrams and as-laid route positions lists for planned cable lays.

Greater New York City Area

• Inspects 25,000+ complaints per year of sidewalks, curbs, and pedestrian ramps by identifying hazardous defects, examining ponding issues, and evaluating roadway conditions.• Collects surveys of 160,000+ corners in NYC for new installations and upgrades to ped ramps by using the ArcGis collector application.• Performs QA inspections of 8,000+ finished ramps by construction crews; results are given to senior staff and engineers for recommendations if ramps do not satisfy ADA compliance.

• Spearheaded STEM lesson plans for 300+ students in Houston, San Diego, Detroit, and Philadelphia.• Constructed solar cars, fuel cells, and more engineering devices to teach STEM concepts.• Prepared students to participate in weekly engineering competitions.• Served as a liaison between site leadership and classroom mentors.
