His career shift resulted in him forming Future Cape Town (now Our Future Cities), which quickly grew to become a leading platform and voice in African urbanism and sustainability.Over the past decade, Rashiq has delivered talks globally, showcasing his work in exhibitions at the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Vitra Design Museum, and the FRAC Centre. The impact of Our Future Cities has been highlighted in Icon Magazine, The Guardian, BBC Future, and Monocle TV.Fataar is on the board of The Independent School for the City in Rotterdam, advocating critical and experimental ideas for future urbanists.He has curated the Department of Design, the #cocreateDESIGN Festival, the Constructing Future Cities residency, South Africa's 1st Urban Festival, and the RISE Africa Action Festival. He is involved globally with organisations and initiatives that align with his values and has previously served on the Heritage Western Cape Impact Assessment Committee and the Board of Cape Town Tourism.
