About Rashmi Ramesh
I am a learning enthusiast. I love to analyze and process new and interesting ideas around me! I believe, as Bill Gates articulated best, that learning a concept requires putting in place a broad framework and learning incrementally thereafter. When I come across a new concept, I dive into its different aspects-the historical contexts, its metamorphosis with time and societal changes, the current interpretations, and its practical policy implications. I find this journey exhilarating! My academic background includes an integrated degree in law (JD equivalent) and a master’s degree (LLM) in Transnational Dispute Resolution. I was fascinated by the subject of dispute resolution in all its forms. My masters course allowed me to dig deeper into its workings in an international context. Digesting the complexities of jurisdictions, applicable laws, and procedure and policy distinctions was arduous yet rewarding. The subject I enjoyed the most was negotiation. Successful negotiation’s reliance on interdisciplinary areas of behavioral economics, cognitive neuroscience, decision making, trust, and communication made it imperative to analyze each of these topics in depth. This was an amazing learning experience! I entered the workforce a couple of years ago and the first interesting opportunity that came knocking was in the area of family law, an area of practice close to my heart. The best part of my work is the authentic and honest conversations I get to have with diverse people from varying backgrounds. Although challenging, I try to find ways to articulate complex legal processes in a simple yet thorough manner. Listening to them, voicing their concerns, and advocating on their behalf is deeply fulling and motivating.I also enjoy drafting pleadings, reviewing discovery, undertaking legal research and writing projects, and assisting my team in getting the best legal outcome for each of our clients. Being a technology native, I find ways to minimize redundancies and optimize tasks, thus reducing costs, increasing efficiency and quality of legal service – which benefit both the firm as well as (and more importantly), our clients. I adopt continuous improvement tools to strive to be the best at what I do. Outside work, I enjoy teaching children. I particularly love coaching young debaters- helping them think critically, articulate their thoughts cohesively, and engage respectfully with others whose opinions differ from their own. I have so much fun interacting with and learning from their brilliant young minds! Reach me at: rashmiramesh@hotmail.com
