Graduated in Electrotechnical Engineering from Instituto Industrial de Lisboa (Lisbon, 1968) and in Maritime Engineering (Lisbon, 1968). Mechanical Officer Engineer in 8 ships of the Portuguese Merchant Navy between 1968 and 1971. University Professor on Operations Research, Operations Management, Maintenance Management and Computer Simulation Technics in the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in the Universidade Católica and in the Universidade Lusófona. Expert in Decision Making Processes and in Systems Reliability/Maintainability. Operations Manager in industrial companies and Consultant in Physical Asset Management and Operations Economy over the years beginning in 1971. Director of AITEC, the first Portuguese venture capital company in the field of TIC´s joining IPE and INESC from 1986 to 1991. Consultant with ISQ in the field of Operational Management Performance Assessment. Author of two dozen articles peer reviewed and eleven books on Operations Management, Engineering Economy and Reliability/Maintainability of Physical assets.
