Scientist cum Health Professions Educator with strong academic research background in structure-based drug design, discovery, preclinical development and delivery of biopharmaceuticals for global public health threats: antibiotic resistance, infection, inflammation (Sepsis) and chronic wounds. My research focused on developing peptide antimicrobials, anti-inflammatory therapeutics and diagnostic tools for control and treatment of infectious diseases. Over the years, I have identified three dimensional structures, investigated molecular mechanism of drug action and validated therapeutic efficacy/toxicity of several naturally occurring bioactive peptides and engineered peptidomimetics.
