Although I had no experience in politics and held a full time job (At Mechanics Bank) I was able to rally a large base of frustrated voters who rallied around my campaign. I was able to raise over $20,000. I had dozens of volunteers and my whole family (including my 4 year old son) got involved and helped me reach out to the Berkeley community. At the end I did not win the seat but the experience and relationships I built during my campaign were invaluable. As President I represented the DBA in all civic and public functions. I recruited new board members and was the chair of our monthly board meetings. I supervised and worked closely with the Executive Director. I frequently met with her to discuss the focus of the organization and how she could best use her time. I am most proud of my efforts to build a rapport with the Mayor, City Council, and prominent City Officials. By the end of my term we had monthly meetings with the Mayor's office, quarterly meetings with each of the City Council Members, and each month we would have 1 - 2 City Officials as guests at our board meetings.
