About Raúl San José Estépar
I'm co-Director of the Applied Chest Imaging Laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. I received my M.Sc and Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Valladolid, Spain, in 1999 and 2005, respectively.My research interests are focused on medical applications of image analysis for the development and translation of image-based biomarkers for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and other chest diseases. I have been awarded multiple NIH-sponsored awards (K25, one R21, and three R01s). Early on in my academic career, I was involved in the development of image-guided systems for laparoscopy and endoscopic interventions guided by ultrasound and its application to Natural Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) and development of Diffusion Tensor Imaging ( DTI) analysis techniques.My professional goals include transitioning into a more strategic role within the healthcare field, especially in the realm of medical devices.
