Telecommunications Technician
CurrentInstallation of fibre optic cables in new and existing buildings• Installation of cable television lines and cables• Demonstrates the ability to identify and document all cables and equipment appropriately• Inspect and test telecommunication transmission lines and cables for transmission characteristics and to locate faults• Crimping and wire/cable stripping, splicing, joining, and connecting wire• Required to pull and fish cable through conduit, ceilings, walls, drop ceilings, and terminating cable ends• Work independently and assist other technicians while in the field Observation.• Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.• Pulling fiber cables, Cat5 and Rg6• Splice and repair various types and sizes of telephone and other telecommunication cables including single line, coaxial and fibre optic• Understand, adhere to, and promote environmental, health & safety practices• Construction
