RAVI K. JAIN, PhD, PE, M.P.A.(Harvard),SPM(MIT), Academician, is Dean and Professor Emeritus of the School of Engineering and Computer Science, University of the Pacific, First chartered University of California. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from California State University, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech; studied public administration and public policy at Harvard, earning an M.P.A. degree, did additional graduate studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Completed a special program in Management of Research and Development (SPM,MIT), Elected member European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and American Academy of Environmental Engineers. Dr. Jain has been an Associate Dean for Research and International Engineering and Executive Director of Interdisciplinary Research Centers, and director of the environmental engineering management graduate program at the University of Cincinnati, College of Engineering. He has appointments as Distinguished Guest Professor at several universities internationally. He has held research and faculty appointments at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) and MIT. He has been a Littauer Fellow Harvard University, and a Fellow, Churchill College, Cambridge University and visiting Faculty Engineering School ,Cambridge University, England. He has directed a staff of over 200 engineers and scientists, conducting interdisciplinary research for the U.S. Army, and was the Founding Director of the U.S. Army Environmental Policy Institute (AEPI). He has worked for the California State Department of Water Resources and industry and has been a consultant to federal agencies, international organizations and private industry and has provided expert testimony concerning environmental issues. Extensive international experience includes: teaching executive and professional development courses in Europe, Asia, Middle East, and South Central America.He was elected Fellow American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS),Fellow ASCE. In 1989 he was a recipient of the Founders’ Gold Medal for Innovative Research and was selected 10th Federal Engineer of the Year by the US National Society of Professional Engineers. He was the only professional to be selected from among 181,000 Federal government engineers.He has published twenty books and over 190 journal articles, book chapters and technical reports. He is Co-editor-in-Chief Emeritus of International Journal – Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy and Associate Editor of several other scholarly Journals.
