Worked on Hf-based bulk metallic glasses and was introduced to the area of dynamic response of these materials (shock behaviour).This exposure kindled scientific interest in the area of materials at extreme environments and prompted me to teach a course on "Materials for Extreme Environments" in IIT Madras which I have been teaching in even semesters for the past 6 years with a lot of focus on high pressure physics and high pressure chemistry,

During my stay in ISRO Satellite Centre (now renamed as U. R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC)), I was involved in the measurement of mass properties of spacecrafts and related components. I had the opportunity to experimentally measure centres of gravity and mass moments of inertia of remote sensing spacecrafts (IRS series) and geosynchronous spacecrafts (INSAT series and GSAT-I) about all the three axes in the clean room.
