I am a senior Biostatistician at the Mental Health Australia General Clinical Trials Network (MAGNET), Australia's first clinical trials network supporting targeted and innovative research in adult mental health. As a biostatistician I am responsible for advising clinical trialists about trial designs, regulatory requirements, how to conduct efficient and effective trials, as well as writing statistical plans. I also work with adaptive, Bayesian designs and simulate complex designs in R. I also have a strong research interest in analysing vocal markers, including indicators of speech prosody (musicality), timing patterns (pause length), frequency measures and physiological markers. These markers can be used to identify a range of clinical presentations including risk of suicide, symptoms of schizophrenia and depression. Vocal markers can also be used to establish identity, similar to finger print analysis. Finally, I am a Psychoanalyst working with complex trauma and in private practice. I am particularly interested in how trauma can become encoded in the body through unconscious processes. My work focuses upon an analysis of these unconscious processes, thus ensuring a more fulfilling and productive life.
