• Prepared solid biodegradable micronanocomposites with desired drug loading for fast releasing poorly water soluble API’s by fluid bed coating of API nanoparticles on to an inert carrier.• Developed strategies in producing micro and nano-suspensions with desired loading, particle size distribution and stability, characterized the pharmaceutical products.• Optimized suspension formulation, through preliminary screening of nano-suspensions at different polymer and surfactant compositions.• Optimized wet stirred media milling process using an intensified methodology for the preparation of sub-100 nm drug particle with 40% energy savings, reduced time and media wear.• Developed a universal, semi-theoretical correlation between the particle breakage rate and the milling intensity factor for all mill process parameters.• Oral polymer strip film formation for control (fast, extended and delayed) delivery of drug nanoparticles. • Screened various polymers for film formulation and developed thin and thick strip films.• Designed and built a lab-scale dryer setup for drying of thin films, and modeled the drying kinetics.

Research Scientist, Materials and Process Engineering Division, Battelle-India, Pune, Maharastra (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Battelle Columbus, Ohio – a large US based multinational worth $ 6.5 billion, engaged in technology and new product development and commercialization )• Solid-acid heterogeneous catalyst for transesterification reactions. Developed a simple and cost effective solid-acid catalyst which involves easy recovery, less purification steps yielding high pure glycerol by product.• Design and process development of pilot scale coal pyrolysis plant and pig iron production process for a leading agro-chemical company situated in Mumbai. Successfully carried out material and energy balances for various unit operations, developed process flow diagrams, materials procurement, laboratory and on sight testing’s, turnkey solutions etc.• Development of frac flow back water treatment system. Identified technological gaps in existing hydro- frac water treatment technologies, design of electro-coagulation unit for handling and efficient removal of high TDS content in frac water. • Writing of reports and proposals to funding agencies.Business Development:• Identified various CO2 separation processes technology and developed a market report for new business opportunities in this area for an US based client.• Collaborated with product marketing and business intelligence group to identify new business opportunities.• Helped define product development roadmaps and establish technical milestones to achieve new/improved products.• Identified new business opportunities, developing client relationships and understanding customer requirements to develop and execute on product roadmaps.

• Investigated the mechanism of iron oxide nanoparticle formation in bulk synthesis routes.• Investigated the role of particle surface morphology and surface charge of coated superparamagentic (Fe3O4 ) uptake in cancerous cells.• Modeling of water soluble nanoparticle formation in microemulsion routes.• Provided insights into understanding of nanoparticle growth mechanisms and design guidelines to control nanoparticle characteristics (size, shape, dispersity). • Developed DLVO theories and Monte-Carlo simulation tool to predict the state (agglomerated and isolated) of dispersion of the synthesized nanoparticle in solutions.
