Ms4 Anatomic Pathology Elective
Final elective and rotation of medical school! Great rotation! Doing evisceration during autopsy to learn clinical anatomy for residency. Studying under Dr. Littman and Dr. Balachandra. Completing rotation at the Health Science Center Hospital.
Ms4 Surgery Research Elective

Ms4 Medical Student Plastic Surgery Elective At Florida Hospital
Educational and informative rotation with Dr. Gonzalez. Working in an outpatient surgical center across from Florida Hospital Orlando. Got to see a lot of beautiful women before, during, and after surgery. Never gave plastic surgery much thought, but it was an eye opener what a morale and self-esteem boost it can be! Dr. G, Dr. Miller and Dr. Beltrye were great and willing teachers, answering any question I had and allowing me to be very involved in the process (was allowed to wield and use a scalpel and bovie for the first time!). Witnessed and participated in abdominoplasties, breast augmentation and lifts, blepharoplasty, and facial lifts. The rest of the staff (Yovannie Miranda and Sue Lee) were very welcoming and friendly.
Ms4 General Surgery Sub-Intern
Excellent learning opportunity. My preceptor, Dr. Fuad Shahin, was very instrumental in the development of surgical skills (tying and suturing), as well as engaging in didactic teaching sessions around the cases. The elective was crucial to accrue surgical skills in the OR, such as suturing, closing wounds, and first assisting as a resident would. This experience paired well with Surgery core, which prepared me for therigors of an intern with pre-rounding, rounding, taking calls and ER consults all at a high volumecommunity center.I enjoyed an unexpected opportunity to participate in the end to end harvesting of organs with a visiting transplant team, and flight overnight to the transplant site in Gainesville, Fl.
Ms4 Vascular Surgery Elective
Great rotation with Dr. Theodore Rapanos inpatient (Hamilton General Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital), hospital outpatient clinic, and outpatient vein clinic Oakville Vascular, where I participated in varicose vein ablation (endovascular laser, sclerotherapy, and vein stripping).
Ms4 Internal Medicine Sub-Intern
Allowed gradual exposure to the independent responsibilities of a PGY-1. This elective prepared me for medical situations and how to manage conditions such as hypertension, nausea and vomiting, pain, EtOH/substance withdrawal and FEN. I continued developing medical education techniques, as I presented case studies, discussed EKG and diagnostic imaging, and rounded with 3rd year medical students.
Ms3 Pediatrics Core Rotation
Morning inpatient rounds at Florida Hospital Altamonte, then outpatient clinic with Dr. Carlos Chaban and Dr. David Hale at Hunt Club Pediatrics.
