I am an AI ethics advisor, researcher, and speaker. My specialty is leveraging AI ethics into great business strategies for tech companies, procurement teams, investors, and others. In my previous professional life, I was an academic philosopher, having received my philosophy PhD from UC Berkeley. I primarily worked on exposing the social and political aspects of science and machine learning and developing theories on how to manage them responsibly. The more I worked on this topic, the more I realized that what I really wanted to do was to use what I had learned to shift the AI industry. I want to make all AI responsible. So now I live in both worlds: industry and academia. I founded TechBetter to do it.-- My industry work --I realized that the best way to make AI responsible is to embed AI best practices into organizations’ business strategies, not only protecting vulnerable stakeholders but also empowering organizations to improve their reputation, compliance, and revenue. I work with clients to tailor and implement strategies for developing AI, procuring it, using it, or investing in it. I give talks and workshops to educate professionals. And I create free resources, which you can find on my website, to make AI ethics knowledge more accessible. -- My academic work --I conduct research for and about the AI ecosystem. My main research area is AI governance, grounding best practices in scientific rigor. My work builds on multiple disciplines, such as computer science, organizational psychology, public policy, business management, and philosophy. I collaborate with researchers worldwide and produce theoretical, qualitative, and quantitative research which informs my industry work and vice versa.-- Recognition --My industry influence includes being named one of the "100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics" by Women in AI Ethics” in 2023, being a finalist for the "Responsible AI Leader of the Year" Award by Women in AI in 2023, and frequent interviews in media outlets such as the New York Times, CNBC, AP News, Financial Times, and Tech Crunch.
