Career Diplomat | Specialist in International Counterterrorism Cooperation (CT and P/CVE)I am a seasoned career diplomat with 15 years of expertise in international counterterrorism and preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE). Currently, I serve as the Counterterrorism Coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, representing Denmark in several multilateral policy fora, including the EU’s COTER and COMET working groups, the Global Counterterrorism Forum, and the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIL/Daesh. I also manage Denmark’s engagements with the UN system, particularly with UNOCT and UNCTED.Additionally, I sit on the Governing Board of the Global Community Engagement & Resilience Fund (GCERF), serve on the Advisory Board of the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ), and am a member of the Roster of Experts for the EU-UN Global Terrorism Threats Facility managed by UNOCT.Previously, I was seconded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) as Senior Strategic Adviser on Counterterrorism and P/CVE. In this capacity, I provided strategic counsel to senior Iraqi policymakers, including the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National CVE Committee, and the Ministry of the Interior, on the implementation of Iraq’s national CT/CVE strategies and engagement with international frameworks.I have coordinated closely with national stakeholders such as the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defense, Prime Minister’s Office, National Security & Intelligence Service (PET), Defence Intelligence Service (FE), and the national fusion center (CTA). This included contributing to the development and implementation of national action plans.In addition to long-term postings in Palestine, Afghanistan, and Jordan/Lebanon, I have undertaken numerous short-term missions across the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia on behalf of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the EU. My work has included identifying and formulating EU CT and P/CVE actions funded by the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP).My project cycle management (PCM) experience is extensive, covering Theory of Change, log frames, risk management, MEAL, program formulation, mid-term reviews, and evaluations in line with EU and DANIDA standards.
