Teaching Intern
Helped teach the 21x series Anatomy and Physiology lab for 5 terms. Answered students questions throughout the lab and provided them with the necessary resources to succeed. This provided a challenge and opportunity for me to learn how to adapt my ability to teach students with different learning styles. I was also responsible for knowing all the material for that week's lab, as well as giving students cadaver tours on a weekly basis.
Undergraduate Research Awards Program Scholarship Recipient
Design a study with my mentor and extrapolate data relevant to our hypothesis. The study we designed was regarding Vertical ground reaction forces in recreationally active individuals with and without chronic ankle stability (CAI). Specifically, within this sample group I was looking to see if there was a significant difference in peak vertical ground reaction forces and the time it took to reach that peak ground force. We hypothesized those with CAI will have a similar peak force, however, the time to peak will be shorter in the individuals with CAI.
Production Operations Intern
Here I worked as a production plant intern focusing on assembly line efficiencies. My first two weeks at the plant I worked on the assembly lines to gain an understanding of how they worked. After that my responsibilities were to communicate with the production manager and senior production manager about various issues. These issues ranged from things throughout the plant that needed immediate attention, to things that could be done better. In addition I was responsible for making several SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) on how to most efficiently perform certain tasks.
Neurology Intern
I was assigned a post-doctoral research mentor and collaborated with them to come up with a study that would reflect their research. My mentor researched how cognitive tasks affected various gait variables in Parkinson's Disease (PD) patients, this was referred to as dual-task cost. I came up with a sub-study that would look at the same gait variable in young healthy adults to try and establish a control group. I was responsible for recruiting participants, determining inclusion criteria, scheduling testing, and interpreting data.
Valet Attendant
I was a valet attendant and was responsible for parking high volumes of cars orderly and quickly, interacted with customers on a daily basis, and basic accounting at the end of every shift. Worked at several venues so I had to be flexible on times I was available to work as well as location.
Operations Attendant
Operated kayak and canoe rental stand. Was responsible for providing training to customers, educating customers about the river, providing a fun and positive environment, and basic accounting at the end of every day. My average day would include checking customers in, making sure their boat was ready for them, assisting with basic instructions for beginners, and fulfilling any other requests customers may have.
