Profile bio

About Ray Chambers

I have recently completed the NPQML course. Having been a middle leader for roughly 8 years, I feel that it’s time to advance to the next steps of my career. Across all my employers, observations of my lessons have been highly complementary noting my assertive role, extensive use of AfL, clarity of expositions and use of questioning to engage all. This was one of the strengths highlighted by a judge in 2015 for the National Teaching Awards when I won the award for outstanding use of technology in lessons.Following on from this, in 2017 I was shortlisted for the Global Teacher Prize and made it into the top 10. This was one of my most proud achievements. It’s important to lead by example and demonstrate good practice when leading others. As part of the NPQML course, my initial project was to successfully lead my faculty to improve safeguarding and online safety. I know the importance of referring to government guidance and I made sure to utilise ‘teaching online safety in school’ (DfE, June 2019). This being said, I have successfully lead all tutors and faculties in the implementation of online-safety across the Academy. Each term, I monitor the whole school online-safety incidents and provide support to our DSL. Being part of the safeguarding team for our trust has meant that I’ve kept up to date with recent changes to the PSHE curriculum.I create a termly dashboard and organised this data so that we can use it to make key decisions. Students now have online-safety as part of their regular diet. This year has provided me with the opportunity to demonstrate my leadership skills. With the arrival of COVID-19, I was in a position to step up and lead the whole Academy with online learning. I lead staff to focus on their strengths and weaknesses and created a series of training resources. All staff have access to these training resources and still use Teams to lead the progress of students isolating. I lead a successful remote learning platform starting in September ensuring that all parents could access remote learning materials for their students. This proves my efficiency and work ethic in highpressure situations. Balancing teaching as well as responsibilities is key to any role in leadership.I have always been a good public speaker and this plays to my strengths. I have had the experience of delivering training to audiences of over 100 people in both a conference and CPD setting. I have also developed the use of administrative data in Microsoft Teams in order to support the pastoral team with online engagement.

Listed skills include Training, Curriculum Design, E Learning, Teaching, and 42 others.
