As a Management Consultant, Ray provided advice to companies, government departments and investment entities in making decisions related to project investment bank-ability, programme performance and delivery, strategy and operational efficiency. The majority of clients attended to were in the infrastructure, resources and manufacturing sectors. Specifically, Ray consulted on energy projects including developing business cases for multi-billion rand oil refineries and project risk management for fuels pipeline. Further to carbon fuels, he was involved in several renewable projects building business cases for waste to energy and bio fuels before undertaking research for the industry IPAP focusing on renewable energy. He also consulted Treasury on Government's National Infrastructure Planning Programme spanning education, health, water infrastructure. Ray was also involved on infrastructure PPPs in the health sector as a technical advisor and provided operational efficiency advice for water utilities and municipalities. Ray also led investment assessments and operations optimisation projects in the transport and logistics infrastructure sector. He consulted for investment entities on large agriculture infrastructure development programmes and sea ports. In the rail infrastructure sector, he consulted on a rail logistics project for a major iron ore mining company and a rail logistics bankable feasibility for a chemicals company.
