Career detective and accredited Financial investigator currently working within a specialist team in the City of London combatting criminality on a national scale. Building on 5 years of investigating money laundering cases, my primary work is in civil recovery and asset denial, utilising the legislative framework within the Proceeds of Crime Act.Previously trained in the legal profession within a local authority dealing with property law and management of Public Rights of Way, I studied to become a qualified Legal Executive. My time in the local authority was divided between investigations and presenting the results at Public Inquiries and conveyancing of authority buildings. I particularly enjoyed the criminal law modules of the associated Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) course and so I made the switch to law enforcement looking for a more rewarding role with a bit more excitement. I enjoyed my initial time in uniform, in neighbourhood policing roles and on response shifts, particularly when becoming a trained pursuit driver. However, I’d always yearn back to my extended attachment to the criminal Investigation department and the challenge of putting together complex cases and then presenting it at court.I’ve now been an investigator for close to 20 years across 2 forces tackling all levels of criminality and specialising in niche areas of policing such as prison liaison, digital media investigation, child abuse investigation, fraud, covert surveillance and money laundering.I enjoy pulling details from the complex and using my skills in sorting large volume complex material to identify useful patterns when building court cases. My main working focuses on large scale financial crime with a heavy emphasis on civil recovery and proceedings in the High Court.
