Founded The Footprint Trust- a registered charity based on the Isle of Wight. The Trust has for over 20 years promoted the benefits of sustainable living linked to practical environmental and social action. The charity helps around 3,000 people every year through practical projects. They deliver workshops and activities in Island schools. The Trust is the lead agency on the Isle of Wight for helping households in fuel poverty, the county having one of the highest levels in the south-east. My role until I retired was to oversee the day-to-day running or various projects. I was responsible for fundraising and promoting the charity and its aims. During my time at the Trust I raised substantial sums of money to help those in fuel poverty and to bring about greater understanding of ‘green’ issues.I trained staff and volunteers sharing my knowledge of fuel poverty and how to identify it and help those in that situation. I have worked in partnership with a number of energy and other companies, to help develop joint strategies in helping those in fuel poverty on the Isle of Wight. On Board on Isle of Wight Community Action and former Trustee of The Riverside Centre for disabled people.Currently Director of Wight Community Energy. I was given the NEA Heat Hero Award in 2012/13 for my work with the fuel poor on the Isle of Wight. Honorary Master of the Open University.
