Game is the leading retailer of hardware and software gaming consoles with 550 stores across the UK and Spain and a turnover of £780m, employing 2,800 people.Supporting the CEO & CFO in the transformation of the business from retailer of games to an esports provider creating a community for gamers. Responsible for strategic projects to improve the long term viability of the business and managing investor relations for the PLC group. Major projects delivered include: securing a collaboration agreement with Sports Direct PLC for accelerated roll-out of BELONG arenas, introduction of new investors to facilitate replacement of single biggest shareholder and have commenced the sale of a non-core business.

The Original Factory Shop is an off-price retailer operating 220 stores, with a turnover of £235m in many small communities across the UK and employs 2,800 people.Reporting to the Chairman and CEO, I joined the business to turn around a department that required a full review of processes and controls and a need to contribute to the day to day operation of the business and longer term strategy. Restructured the team to create clear lines of responsibility and accountability on which to build, and commenced the review process. Worked with CEO & fellow Directors to create a 3 year plan with a view to exit for PE sponsor in 2 years; restructured debt and shareholdings to provide future value as part of this strategy; dramatically improved perception of Finance in the business through involvement in all key decisions and supporting stakeholders with accurate and insightful reporting and working with Commercial team to improve stock turn, reduce terminal stock by 40% and improve margin rates by 100bps.

Also have responsibility for concession partners contract negotiations representing 50% of the total Hof business.

The Merchandising teams work alongside our Buying colleagues to deliver the sales and margin growth targets for each category, while managing stock sell through to minimise working capital demand and terminal stock issues. Also responsible for management of all concession contracts, procurement of goods not for resale and B2B Gift Card sales. Concession management and terms negotiation is a key facilitator of our business growth and integral to delivering strategic plans.

I worked closely with all key stakeholders to ensure that we deliver the key financial commitments of our business in earnings, working capital and debt management. I managed the finance, accounting and planning & trading teams, totalling 60 people, in the provision of financial analysis, support and controls for the business.
